Job Description
The Director of Outreach & Fellowship is expected to fulfill the following duties and responsibilities: Oversee and Support Outreach Ministries and Groups Provide leadership and direction for all outreach ministries and groups within the church, including the Outreach Committee and its subcommittees. Collaborate with ministry leaders to develop and implement outreach strategies that align with the church\'s mission and vision, focusing on areas such as social justice, community service, and global missions. Equip and empower lay members to serve and lead in outreach efforts, providing training, resources, and support as needed. Develop the annual Outreach budget and oversee the use of various Outreach endowments. Provide Outreach education through book/bible studies, programs, and churchwide communication. Coordinate a diverse range of local, domestic, and international outreach projects and initiatives, including service projects, mission trips, and partnerships with community organizations. Work closely with mission partners and stakeholders to identify needs, assess impact, and evaluate effectiveness of outreach efforts. Facilitate opportunities for congregants to engage in hands-on service and ministry, fostering a culture of compassion, empathy, and social responsibility within the church community. Manage community benevolence requests. Oversee kitchen operations – developing and implementing processes and systems to help the kitchen operate efficiently – including menu planning, food procurement, and volunteer scheduling. Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist with kitchen operations and fellowship activities, ensuring a welcoming and hospitable environment for all participants. Discern ways to involve the broader community in churchwide Fellowship opportunities, creating a bridge between the church\'s Outreach and Fellowship ministries.
Duties and responsibilities may shift based on the needs of the church. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in ministry, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field (Master\'s degree preferred). Previous experience in outreach ministry, community organizing, or social justice advocacy, preferably within a church or nonprofit context. Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and individuals. Commitment to the values and teachings of the United Methodist Church, with a passion for social justice, compassion, and service. Experience working with volunteers and empowering lay leaders to serve and lead in ministry contexts. Financial experience managing budgets and developing grantmaking processes. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate outreach events and fellowship activities. Values Alignment
