About the Position We’re seeking a forward-thinking Finance Manager to be a key driver of financial strategy and operational insight. In this role, you’ll build cost models that uncover trends, guide data-informed decisions, and shape the way we deliver services to our community. You’ll partner directly with supply chain teams, grant managers, and senior leaders to bridge the gap between financial analysis and real-world impact. Responsibilities
Reconcile inventory and deliver insightful analyses to support purchasing and demand planning decisions
Build and monitor operating budgets for the Chief Operating Officer's team, ensuring fiscal discipline and transparency
Conduct financial analysis on vendor rates, staffing costs, headcount allocations, and inventory trends to identify opportunities for cost improvement
Collaborate directly with operations and senior leaders to ensure financial data is translated into actionable strategies
Lead cross-functional investigations into financial or operational inefficiencies, applying root cause analysis to drive sustainable change
Support Government Revenue forecasting, aligning with policy changes and revenue streams
Assist with capital expenditure and depreciation forecasting to guide long-term financial planning
Develop grant budgets aligned with complex proposal requirements to support funding initiatives
Prepare financial reports that track grant metrics, compliance, and overall performance
Participate in Planning Tool Upgrade, serve as backup administrator
Perform ad hoc financial analyses to support emerging initiatives, strategic projects, and executive decision-making
Qualifications
7–10 years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, Consulting, or Accounting
Deep expertise in managerial and cost accounting principles. Basic understanding of revenue recognition.
Proven ability to manage and interpret large datasets using MS Excel (pivot tables, lookup formulas, dynamic charts)
Familiarity with ERP systems, financial databases, and supply chain platforms
Strong understanding of supply chain finance, logistics costing, and operational modeling
Strategic thinker who can synthesize complex data into actionable insights
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across departments and leadership levels
Demonstrated project management skills with a knack for working independently and efficiently
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent work experience
Experience in non-profit accounting environments is highly desirable but not required
Reports To Director of Finance
Location Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Curtner, 750 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125. This is a hybrid position. Specifics of work location will depend on department need. An employee’s regular remote work site should be within driving distance of one of Second Harvest’s locations and must be within the state of California.
Hours Full-Time. Exempt. 40 hours/week, with some evening and weekend work as necessary.
Compensation $115,203 to $135,533
is the wage range for this position. The salary offer will be commensurate with skills and experience. Outstanding and generous health benefits program, 4-5 weeks of Flexible Time Off (vacation and sick), eleven paid holidays, and retirement plan.
