Overview
The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding its faculty in areas of basic biomedical sciences, including molecular biology and genetics, quantitative systems biology, virology/immunology, developmental biology and cancer. The department seeks candidates with strong research programs in cell biology or related fields. Areas of interest are broad and include fundamental discovery, developing novel experimental tools, and creating innovative therapeutic strategies. Applications from candidates with outstanding programs at all levels are welcome. Applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, with a record of significant research accomplishments and potential for academic leadership. The department is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community and encourages applications from individuals underrepresented in science. Primary duties and responsibilities
The appointee is expected to use creativity and latitude in performing research tasks. Contribute to basic and applied research activities, publish significant results, and advance expertise through education, training, and research experience. Seek extramural research funding. Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral associates. Publish research papers. Provide service to the department and the scientific community. Present at national and international meetings. Analyze and summarize data for original manuscripts, reviews, book chapters, editorials, and patent applications. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent and should be able to contribute effectively to both the research and teaching missions of the Department of Cell Biology. Strong start-up funds and salary support will be provided commensurate with rank. The candidate must be able to establish and manage an independent research group. Education requirements (essential)
