The Aquaculture Specialist in state service is a staff specialist which is substantially engaged in project proposal evaluation, contract preparation and execution and project monitoring; funding opportunities; reviews various complex plans, proposals and development projects for overall technical feasibility and makes appropriate recommendations. Conducts complex research and develops recommendations to aquaculture producers which involves comprehensive knowledge of industry policies, rules and regulations. Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Legal Authorization To Work Requirement The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Education:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a major in animal sciences, aquaculture, marine sciences, or a closely related field. Specialized Experience:

Four (4) years of professional work experience in aquaculture commercial production, aquaculture program administration or aquaculture research. Such work must have provided knowledge in the areas of scientific and/or business elements of aquaculture. Examples of acceptable experience in the above areas are: 1) scientific elements of aquaculture - work which involved knowledge of several pertinent factors such as species biology, site assessment, pond design and development, harvesting techniques, disease diagnosis and prevention, health management, water quality management, water chemistry, soil analysis and/or production management; and 2) business elements of aquaculture - work which included concern with optimum management of an aquaculture business, e.g., efficiency of production and reduction of production costs.
