The Unit Director at the School Based Site directs and oversees the overall daily operations of the before and after school-based Club program. This position is responsible for staff management and development, program implementation, and maintaining strong school relationships. This role requires high energy, enthusiasm for BGCSCK’s mission, and the ability to adapt to the needs of the youth population served. Successful candidates will build strong professional relationships with staff, parents, Club members, and the community. Key Responsibilities
Leadership: Establish unit programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes. Ensure a healthy and safe environment, including facilities, equipment and supplies maintenance. Act professionally with all staff, members, and parents. Program Development and Implementation: Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis; ensure programs/activities respond to member needs and address gender and cultural diversity. Program evaluations will include pulse checks to obtain member feedback and utilize BGCSCK’s program quality assessments tool. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation as requested. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate the unit’s overall programs, services and activities to meet stated objectives, member needs and interests. Site Supervision: Ensure productive and effective performance of all program staff, including compliance with organizational policies. Monitor and evaluate individual performance of program staff; provide feedback and implement adjustment strategies as needed. Oversee proper record keeping and reporting of activities, attendance, participation, notable achievements, and problems/issues. Assist with site-specific hiring and organization hiring upon request; train site-specific staff and organizational new hires as requested. Provide ongoing supervision of program staff and maintain positive, dynamic relationships between staff and Club members. Conduct effective regular team meetings and disseminate important information to staff, volunteers and parents. Provide staff ongoing training to ensure proper implementation of organizational initiatives. Partnership Development & Marketing: Develop partnerships with parents and school personnel; develop and maintain public relations to increase visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
