Area Manager II with CVN experience . The hours are 0600-1445. Responsibilities

Area Manager II is a highly skilled member of the Programs Team responsible for the management of a CMAV type availability from the Planning Phase through final milestone and delivery back to the customer. Coordinate and manage all work items associated with a CMAV availability, providing status on schedules and cost impacts. Coordinate multiple subcontractors and organic trade activities to ensure schedule objectives are met. Act as the point of contact for assigned work items to customers and represent the company at related government meetings for the assigned availability. Position Demands (Education/Training)

Typically has a BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related field, or AA/AS plus 2 years of related experience, or 6 years of related experience. Position Demands (Experience and Skills)

Minimum of two (2) years as a high performing NASSCO Area Manager I (qualified by at least 2 evaluation cycles with a minimum 4/5 score) or four (4) years of external experience in an equivalent role. Preferred minimum of six (6) years of ship repair experience in a related role within a public or private shipyard. Prior US Navy engineering or related experience may qualify. In-depth knowledge of tools and systems used at NASSCO-Norfolk for managing availabilities and experience managing multiple CMAVs. Must have at least six (6) years of experience managing technical personnel within complex activities or shipboard availabilities. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint in a server environment. Experience with Cost Type or Fixed Type contracts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop and manage complex work plans and direct multiple subcontractors and personnel. Valid drivers license with reliable transportation; willing to carry a business rider if necessary for company business. Able to gain access to Government facilities and obtain a Security clearance once employed by NASSCO-Norfolk. Able to work nights and weekends during peak workloads and willing to travel to remote, out-of-state locations for extended periods. The Area Manager II may be reclassified if performance does not remain at the Area Manager II level. Physical Requirements

Carrying, Lifting, Walking, Climbing, Pulling, and other activities as needed. Must be able to go on vessels and work in naval environments, including drydock, tanks, and confined spaces; may require wearing PPE. Visual requirements and hearing, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and other physical activities as necessary. Ability to wear PPE, including respirators, and work in a noisy environment. Other Requirements

Regular, reliable attendance on-site. Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation. Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a CAC or DBIDS badge. Must have a reliable attendance record and be available for overtime as required. Must be able to physically access all areas of the facility. Must be able to work in a naval-ship-work-environment and aboard marine vessels and drydocks, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear PPE. Working Relationships

Reports to Program Manager or designee. Maintain professional outsourcing relationships with teaming partners and subcontractors, tracking milestones and work completion. Notify Accounting when work completion occurs so invoices can be processed in a timely manner. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with and manage others. Supervisory responsibility for all employees assigned to the project team. Principal Responsibilities

Ensure project information from customers is forwarded to all departments and entered into management data systems for internal reviews. Implement project management processes and tools; provide guidelines to support the project. Assist Planning in developing proposals, estimates, and schedules. Assemble, plan, lead, and facilitate regular cross-functional Project Team meetings with company personnel, subcontractors, customers, and the US Navy. Develop detailed plans to manage complex work items; develop detailed task lists and assess work effort and impacts on CMAV availability. Identify changes in work scope and coordinate planning across Planning, Estimating, Production and Contracts; reassess, renegotiate, and amend scope, schedules, and budgets with customer inputs. Identify, assess, and analyze risks; provide leadership to resolve conflicts and keep on schedule. Lead assigned subcontractors and internal trade personnel as required. Perform additional duties as assigned. Accountability

Provide independent analysis, concept formulation, and new method identification. Maintain overall responsibility for availability budgets and schedules to keep items On-time and On Schedule. Unique/Additional Requirements

Requires punctuality, overtime as needed, and ability to work in naval environments, aboard vessels, and in drydocks with PPE. May involve dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy conditions.
