UPSIDE is entering an exciting scale-up phase. The selected candidate for the Process Reliability Engineer position will optimize the preventive maintenance program to maximize equipment reliability. This role ensures equipment and processes are calibrated and operational in UPSIDE’s cutting-edge facility. The Process Engineering team handles scale-up, new technology implementation, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and process optimization at our EPIC facility. The role is highly cross-functional, collaborating with scientists, supply chain, manufacturing, and other engineering departments, with opportunities to learn about new equipment and processes and to grow in various areas. Responsibilities Include
Troubleshooting upstream and downstream equipment operations Monitoring and maintaining existing equipment to ensure successful operations Maintaining and executing the Preventive Maintenance Program and offering process improvements Leading training initiatives on reliability improvements, ensuring operators are up to date and compliant on new processes Supporting a dynamic operations team and building systems with them in FDA and USDA regulated environments Leading project efforts to support company-wide goals to scale cultivated meat Commissioning and validation of new equipment About You
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (chemical, biochemical, mechanical) with 5+ years of biotechnology, synthetic biology, or pharmaceutical experience Experience in tangential flow (Cross flow) filtration, disc stack centrifuges, decanter centrifuges, HTST units, chromatography, extrusion, liquid and solids handling, pumps, and/or cell culture bioreactors is a plus Eager to learn Enjoys fast-paced and complex environments and seeks to improve processes and experiences Comfortable working with medium to large equipment Who You’ll Work With
Will partner with multiple technical teams as well as FDA and USDA regulatory and manufacturing teams Technical teams include upstream development, process sciences, manufacturing sciences and technology, quality control, quality assurance, and product development Role will frequently interact with Manufacturing Ops teams, with expected growth across functions in the next 1–2 years Compensation
$110,000 - $135,000 per year. Pay may vary depending on factors including job-related knowledge and skills. Benefits
