Program Assistant, Communications & Events - EDH (Student) (FWS)

American University . This position supports the overall administration of the Department of Environment, Development & Health (EDH) in the School of International Service (SIS). It reports to the EDH Department Manager and works closely with the Academic Program Coordinator, and may involve collaboration with the Department Chair, Undergraduate Faculty Coordinator, and Director of Graduate Studies as needed. The primary focus is supporting the communications products and activities of the department as well as events.
Responsibilities
Support a range of communications projects including: an archival project for the upcoming anniversary of a graduate program; taking and collecting photographs for use on social media and in the annual report; developing a communications plan for social media engagement with the support of the leadership team; and creating content to advertise departmental activities and events.
Assist with in-person events and activities as needed, estimated 2x per week for about 4 hours per week (schedule may vary).

Scheduled weekly hours: 10 hours per week
Salary Range $17.95 - $18.50 per hour
Required Education And Experience
High School Diploma
Enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at American University
Must have a Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the academic year
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to work in multicultural environments
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Customer Service focus
Comfortable moving event tables/chairs and able to lift 25 pounds
Preferred Education And Experience
Previous experience working at AU campus office
Experience with Canva
Prior experience with social media is a plus
