Overview
Youth Program Coordinator role at Mankato Family YMCA. Under the direction of the School Age & Camp Y-Ki Director and Asst. Preschool and Family Program Director, perform routine and non-routine leadership and develop and execute programs in the Youth, Family and Camp departments (Pre-School and School-Age Recreation, Bouncing Bears, Camp Y-Ki), and support Aquatics as needed. Overall knowledge and in-depth understanding of childcare, youth recreation, and camp practices and policies. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment, strong organizational abilities, creative thinking, and ability to coordinate a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and camp databases. Adept in administrative processes with attention to detail. Knowledge of camp licensing or willingness to learn. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people of all ages and abilities. Principal Activities Under supervision of the School Age & Camp Y-Ki Director: Develop and lead youth recreation programs (Babysitters Training, Middle School Madness, Youth at the Y, afterschool enrichment, etc.). Responsible for scheduling, setup and facilitation of onsite birthday parties. Serve as LIT and CIT Coordinator for Camp Y-Ki at Kiwanis Park.
Under supervision and direction of the Assistant Preschool and Family Program Director: Develop and lead programs in Bouncing Bears, in collaboration with all Bouncing Bears instructors. Develop and lead preschool recreation programs. Support supervisor with planning and implementation of year-round family events.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff and vendors via mail, telephone, and email regarding program-specific information. Supervise staff in program areas and recommend staffing to supervisors. Work closely with supervisors and department Directors regarding responsibilities. Subs as Aquatic Instructor/Lifeguard/Waterfront Director as needed and assist with Lifeguard Certifications as needed. Perform other duties as designated by supervisors. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach, push, use digital dexterity, crouch, stand, pull, grasp, navigate stairs, walk, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds, and talk/hear. Specific vision abilities include close/far vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, color perception, and field of vision. Acute hearing is essential. This position is not frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. May occasionally be exposed to wet/humid environments and moderate to extreme noise. EFFECT ON END RESULT
