A law firm seeks a Patent Agent specializing in biomedical devices for its offices in California and New York. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience in patent prosecution and a background in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, material science, or related medical device technology. Duties

Prepare draft patent applications, incorporating scientific aspects of inventions. Draft responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices. Evaluate and report on technological aspects of inventions. Investigate technologies and discuss scientific aspects with clients and inventors. Identify and analyze complex patent issues and implement solutions. Act as liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office. Communicate with staff, clients, and PTO personnel professionally. Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently under time constraints. Stay updated on technology trends and patent prosecution issues. Enter, maintain, and analyze data for reports. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, material science, or related field preferred; Master's or PhD in a related field is advantageous. Qualified to sit for the patent bar; preferably licensed to practice before the USPTO. Strong investigative and problem resolution skills. Advanced knowledge of patent documentation drafting and emerging trends. Proficient in research principles, methods, and resources. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and prosecution docketing systems. Ability to manage confidentiality and ethical responsibilities. Flexibility to work additional hours as needed. Education

Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred; advanced degrees are advantageous. Certifications

Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Skills

Advanced oral and written communication skills. Ability to analyze and interpret research findings. Strong organizational and time management skills.
