Your Role
Design roadway drainage systems in accordance with FDOT standards, including cross drains, side drains, storm sewer systems, ditches, ponds, and outfalls
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using FDOT-accepted methodologies and software
Prepare drainage reports, stormwater management plans, and technical documentation for FDOT and regulatory agencies
Support the development of drainage plans, calculations, cost estimates, quantities, and permitting packages
Coordinate with roadway, structures, and environmental teams as well as subconsultants
Assist in reviewing submittals and providing QA/QC for internal or external drainage work
Stay informed on FDOT drainage manual updates, regulatory changes, and water management district permitting processes
Mentor junior engineers
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Minimum 2 years of FDOT-related drainage design experience
PE license in Florida preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months; EI certification required
Familiarity with FDOT drainage design manuals, criteria, and plan production requirements
Proficiency with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software such as ICPR, ASAD, SUDA, StormCAD, and HEC-RAS
Experience using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and FDOT CONNECT CAD standards
Understanding of permitting requirements from Water Management Districts, FDEP, and USACE
Strong organizational, documentation, and coordination skills
Valid driver's license and ability to attend site visits or coordination meetings as needed
