Macdonald & Company is proud to be exclusively retained by a globally active real estate investment and development firm to appoint a Managing Director to lead its U.S. investment platform as part of a formal and strategic expansion across the region.

Our client operates internationally with a successful track record of delivering risk-adjusted returns across real estate private equity, development, and joint-venture strategies. With committed capital in place and a long-term mandate for growth, the U.S. business is poised for rapid institutional scale.

This is a rare opportunity to lead from the front, building partnerships, securing capital, and executing investments - while shaping the U.S. growth strategy for a well-capitalized, entrepreneurial platform.

Role Overview Based in South Florida, the Managing Director will be responsible for building and scaling the firm’s U.S. real estate platform with dual accountability:

Buy-Side: Sourcing, structuring, and executing joint venture real estate investments with development and operating partners.

Sell-Side: Raising capital from a curated network of institutional investors, family offices, and private wealth platforms.

Reporting directly to global leadership, the MD will have the autonomy to build and lead a lean, high-performing team and act as a key strategic voice in platform direction.

Key Responsibilities

Investment & JV Origination

Develop and lead a scalable investment strategy targeting value-add and opportunistic opportunities.

Source and underwrite transactions through joint ventures, typically operating as co-GP alongside execution-proven partners.

Manage the full deal lifecycle, from origination to closing, through to asset oversight.

Evaluate investments based on execution certainty, risk-return profile, and potential for platform-scale impact.

Capital Formation & Investor Management

Lead capital raising efforts for both deal-by-deal and platform-level initiatives.

Cultivate and grow a network of institutional LPs, family offices, and private investors.

Present opportunities in a sophisticated, data-driven manner to drive alignment and long-term relationships.

Coordinate with international teams to attract cross-border investment and co-investment interest.

Leadership & Platform Development

Recruit, mentor, and manage a focused team across investment and capital functions.

Champion a culture of entrepreneurial accountability, integrity, and performance.

Represent the platform in the market—building relationships with partners, advisors, and broader industry stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

Experience: 10–15+ years in real estate private equity, investment, or development, with a strong record of joint venture deal execution.

Co-GP Familiarity: Deep experience structuring co-GP transactions and working with local operating partners.

Capital Raising: Demonstrated success in raising LP equity from institutional and private capital sources.

Execution Track Record: Proven ability to manage complex deals from underwriting through closing and beyond.

Leadership & Strategy: Strategic thinker and effective team leader with commercial instinct and disciplined judgment.

Technical Capability: Advanced skills in underwriting, capital structuring, Excel, and Argus.

Location: Must be based in, or willing to relocate full-time to West Palm Beach or Miami, Florida.
