Buffalo, New York (Preferred) / Remote (Will be expected to travel to Buffalo, NY for 1 week in every 4-6 weeks with Monday through Thursday in office) Job Summary
As an Enterprise Architect for Corporate Functions at Bank, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s technology strategy, landscape, and roadmap. You will serve as an integrative force across business and technology domains, establish trusted advisor partnerships with senior leaders, and drive the architecture of complex, high-priority initiatives that deliver significant business value. Your work will influence large-scale programs that are critical to the bank’s long-term success, ensuring scalable, resilient, and forward-looking solutions. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Define and evolve enterprise architecture strategies and roadmaps that align enterprise technology strategies for finance, risk, HR, procurement, and other corporate functions. Bridge IT and Finance/Risk/HR functions to ensure systems, data, and processes support compliance, efficiency, and strategic decision-making. High-Level Design: Develop architectural models and frameworks that support secure, scalable, and resilient solutions across complex financial ecosystems. Detailed Solutions Architecture: Translate strategic objectives into actionable solution architectures for delivery and engineering teams. Finance Alignment: Define and maintain target architectures for core corporate functions applications (Oracle Financial Suite, Workday, ERP, EPM, Treasury, Tax, FP&A). Lead modernization of financial systems (ERP upgrades, FinTech integrations). Translate CFO priorities into actionable technical roadmaps and champion FinOps practices to align cloud and IT spend with financial goals. Regulatory & Risk Alignment: Ensure architectural solutions comply with financial regulations, internal risk frameworks, and data privacy standards, supporting auditability and operational integrity. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business leaders, product owners, and technology teams to ensure architectural alignment across client services, digital platforms, and core banking systems. Implementation Leadership: Provide architectural oversight and governance throughout the solution delivery lifecycle, ensuring adherence to enterprise standards and successful on-time execution of high-impact initiatives. Trusted Advisor: Build strong relationships with management, providing expert advice and insights to support decision-making. Communication: Communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, fostering alignment and informed decisions. Vendor & Partner Engagement: Collaborate with external technology providers and service partners to ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for performance, cost-effectiveness, and agility in a regulated environment. Financial services industry domains, particularly institutional banking services Knowledge of financial systems (GL, AP/AR, Consolidation, Treasury, Tax, FP&A), HR systems (Workday), and procurement/corporate systems (Ariba, Concur) Experience with risk management systems, regulatory reporting, and compliance frameworks Modern architectures (cloud, microservices, APIs, data platforms, integration patterns) Cybersecurity principles, data privacy, and secure architecture practices Business capability modeling, value stream mapping, and other business architecture techniques Regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., FFIEC, SOX, GLBA, GDPR) Architectural modeling tools and documentation standards IT governance, portfolio management, and enterprise change management processes Data architecture concepts, including data governance and analytics enablement Emerging technologies and their impact on financial services Vendor evaluation and integration strategies Able to operate within agile, DevOps, and product-centric delivery models Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field 7+ years in enterprise architecture, with at least 5 years in finance and risk domains Knowledge of institutional banking products and services including capital markets, investment management, structured finance, and M&A Experience driving innovation within financial services Experience with architecture diagrams, frameworks, and EA tools Background in software engineering, software delivery, or solution architecture Expected Deliverables
