Alphanumeric Systems Alphanumeric is hiring an INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT SPECIALIST to work in Rockville, MD with our client of 20 years committed to improving lives through medical and pharmaceutical advancements. The Infrastructure Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security across all systems. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing network resources, and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to support business operations, particularly in laboratory and analytical environments. Responsibilities Infrastructure & Network Support Monitor and maintain servers, network devices, and other infrastructure components. Install patch cabling for phones, servers, and switches as needed. Install switches and network devices for infrastructure projects. Perform monthly walkthroughs of site computer and communication rooms to address incidents related to network equipment. Ensure network and backup needs of end users are met, especially for analytical PC connectivity.

End-User & Lab Support Provide support for laboratory printing issues. Troubleshoot barcode scanners and label printers. Support site video conference and A/V equipment. Provide training to users as needed. Escalate unresolved issues to the Site Tech Manager.

Vendor & Global IT Coordination Work with outside vendors and escort them as needed. Interface with vendors of locally supported systems for incidents, updates, and maintenance. Follow up on hardware, software, and access requests with the Global IT team. Coordinate and communicate alerts and downtime requests with business stakeholders.

Service Management & Documentation Monitor the site's ServiceNow queue and address incidents for locally supported applications. Document IT procedures for internal use. Complete IT qualification tests as needed for risk and compliance activities.

Compliance & Safety Adhere to site health and safety standards. Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Associate or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. 2+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support or a similar role. Proficiency in Windows/Linux server environments, networking protocols, and virtualization technologies. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Experience with monitoring tools and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow). Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or Cisco CCNA are a plus.
