ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a premier supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, is actively seeking a dedicated Asphalt Plant Mechanic to join our team. This role will primarily support operations at our Kirby Road Asphalt Plant located in Clinton, Maryland. As a Plant Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of fixed electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring that our machinery runs smoothly and efficiently.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Demonstrate your commitment to safety by adhering to and enhancing safety policies in every work environment.
Inspect and assess the condition and operation of plant equipment, performing repairs and reporting necessary adjustments to the Area Manager.
Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures; complete required paperwork promptly.
Efficiently complete work orders by installing, repairing, and fabricating metal components, while prioritizing safety.
Utilize heavy machinery to assemble or repair metal structures while ensuring a safe work environment.
Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on both fixed and mobile plant equipment.
Prepare and weld steel and aluminum structures, appendages, and various equipment.
Perform necessary routine inspections and report findings to the Area Manager.
Maintain reports and inventory of commonly used repair supplies and equipment.
Assist team members to ensure smooth operations and the completion of work activities.
React to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns.
Carry out emergency repairs on production equipment promptly to minimize downtime.
Perform maintenance on plant processing equipment and grounds as required.
Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure their proper functioning and safety.
Rebuild or fabricate parts while also repairing electrical equipment.
Take on additional duties as needed.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education:
High school diploma or GED is required. Field of Study Preferred:
Technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred. Required Work Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role. Travel Requirements:
N/A Lead a team of mechanics to ensure efficient and safe operation of quarry equipment. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on crushers, conveyors, trucks, and other machinery. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment efficiently. Oversee major repairs while ensuring minimal operational downtime. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company protocols. Monitor and maintain an inventory of tools and parts necessary for repairs. Conduct inspections to assess equipment condition regularly. Coordinate with management on maintenance schedules and equipment needs. Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used. Stay informed about new technologies and methods to improve maintenance efficiency. Additional Requirements: Successful candidates must strictly adhere to all safety protocols and utilize Amrize-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator creates a seal to pass required fit tests.
