Overview
Associate Director, Insights and Strategy at Starcom is a role that champions a people-first approach to unearth actionable insights for a major new CPG client. The Associate Director diagnoses business, audience, category and cultural dynamics to inform communication and media strategy. This role is a key connection point between insight, strategy, planning, investment & measurement to ensure proper audience usage and optimization. It requires a rich understanding of the data ecosystem including working with Connected Identity data, and the ability to design and implement innovative research solutions. The focus is on data-driven storytelling that translates into actionable and addressable audience strategies. The successful candidate fosters team growth, is curious, creative and a collaborative problem-solver.
Responsibilities
Insights: Analyze and connect the dots between diverse and disparate data sets to derive meaningful and actionable insights.
Insights: Unearth data-driven insights on category, brands, competitive, and cultural landscape.
Insights: Develop audience frameworks; identify the role of growth audiences, demand spaces and addressable targets.
Insights: Develop recommendations for US priority audiences, including defining, sizing, and valuing based on audiences' contribution to business outcomes.
Insights: Profile audiences to gain a rich understanding of their behaviors, interests, attitudes, fandoms, motivations and barriers to purchase.
Insights: Work with planning and investment teams to provide qualitative in-platform proxy audiences.
Strategy: Build solid audience strategies keeping in mind the needs of the rest of the ecosystem – planning, investment and measurement.
Strategy: Develop connections framework to inform PESO plan development in alignment with strategic audiences.
Strategy: Assist in developing and presenting client-ready strategy presentations inclusive of data visualization and storytelling.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years in media/marketing/consumer research, consumer insight, or related fields
Experience with statistical software packages, especially SPSS or R (strongly preferred)
Experience with multiple methodological approaches (social listening, syndicated tools, primary & secondary research) and a thorough understanding of the data ecosystem and tools
Experience with 1:1 Identity solutions (e.g., Epsilon)
Experience with designing concise and effective research plans from survey writing to analysis and presentation of findings
Experience with effective survey writing aligned with industry best practices
Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets
Experience in data visualization and/or tools such as Tableau
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent Microsoft Office skills; PowerPoint and advanced Excel
Ability to manage a team, prioritize effectively and be accountable for collective team output
