Overview
Senior Manager, Software Engineering, DevOps (Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering) Capital One is seeking DevOps Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies to join our team. The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division enables Capital One’s foundational cloud infrastructure layer, including observability, connectivity, resilience and availability. This position includes leadership of the overnight operations for the Technology Operations Center (TOC) to ensure round-the-clock resilience and continuity for critical enterprise systems. TOC drives initiatives such as infrastructure and application monitoring, incident management and response, cybersecurity operations, and leverages AI and automated solutions for operational excellence and resilience engineering impacting the enterprise. The role involves leadership responsibilities within a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on delivering robust cloud-based solutions to support millions of Americans in achieving financial empowerment. What You’ll Do
Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full stack systems.
Share passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and, from time to time, code or evaluate code.
Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that enhance experiences for users.
Utilize programming languages including Java, Python, SQL, Ruby and Go; container orchestration services such as Docker and Kubernetes; configuration management tools like Ansible and Terraform; and a variety of AWS tools and services.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
At least 6 years of experience in DevOps Engineering
At least 4 years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
At least 6 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience
At least 4 years of experience in people management
Qualifications
9+ years of DevOps Engineering experience
6+ years of experience with coding and scripting (Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl or Ruby)
4+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation and delivery
3+ years of experience with monitoring tools (Splunk or Zabbix)
3+ years of experience with container orchestration services (Docker or Kubernetes)
3+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices
Compensation and Benefits
Capital One will sponsor qualified applicants for employment authorization in this position where required. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. McLean, VA: $225,400 - $257,200; Plano, TX: $204,900 - $233,800; Richmond, VA: $204,900 - $233,800. If hired in another location, pay will be the range for that location and reflected in the offer letter. This role is eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives. Details depend on the plan. Other Information
