Jupiter seeks to hire a highly motivated and experienced professional as its Senior Data Scientist. The successful candidate will lead Jupiters data science initiatives, leveraging deep domain knowledge and hands-on experience in data engineering, machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive innovation and optimization across the organization. This role will be based out of our Houston, Texas office and will be subject to our return-to-office policy which currently requires that employees come in 3+ days per week. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement advanced machine learning and AI models to optimize energy storage operations and market strategies through deep domain knowledge of mathematics, statistics behind the model structure and hyper parameters. Maintain and enhance real time models for power market for Jupiters proprietary dispatch optimization applications, ensuring they leverage the latest advancements in AI and machine learning. Optimize the full MLOp and DataOp lifecycle to maximize model accuracy and operation efficiency. Conduct thorough research and stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in data science, AI, and energy storage. Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, and operations, to identify data modeling solutions.

Requirements

Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in software development or data science focused on building time series regression models and forecasting projects. 2+ years of hands-on experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and Databricks. Strong foundation in machine learning theory, statistics, and data quality management; expert in feature engineering and dealing with data quality issues. Proficient with ML/AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras) and LLM orchestration tools like LangChain. Proven success in end-to-end ML lifecycle management, using DataOps and MLOps best practices. Deep experience with one or more cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure). Preferred but not required: Familiarity with optimization methods for energy storage applications.
