Position Summary
The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is seeking a Digital Communications & Design Coordinator to join its External Affairs team. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner, this role combines graphic design, digital communications, and multimedia production to strengthen the agency’s brand and mission. The coordinator will plan, design, and produce high-quality print and digital materials, manage social media and web content, and ensure compliance with WCAG accessibility standards.
This is a 100% onsite role in Jackson, MS.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design & Production:
Design and produce print/digital collateral such as infographics, campaigns, presentations, and reports.
Develop video, motion graphics, and interactive media for websites and social platforms.
Apply accessibility guidelines (WCAG) and maintain brand consistency.
Digital Communications:
Manage social media channels, create engaging content, and monitor trends.
Maintain web content and digital assets (WordPress and related platforms).
Support email, search, and mobile campaigns; track and report campaign performance.
Collaboration & Project Management:
Partner with staff, IT, and vendors to deliver projects on time and within scope.
Contribute to communications plans integrating digital and offline strategies.
Innovation & Continuous Learning:
Stay updated on design trends, digital tools, and communication best practices.
Introduce creative approaches to increase audience engagement.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in graphic design, digital media, or communications.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, motion graphics, video editing, and digital publishing.
Strong knowledge of social media management, web content development, and accessibility standards (WCAG preferred).
Excellent written, visual, and interpersonal communication skills.
