Renewable Maintenance Specialist Senior , you will own the maintenance and operational reliability of a diverse portfolio of APS-owned

solar

and

battery energy storage systems (BESS)

throughout Arizona. This hands-on, field-based role combines technical expertise with autonomy to work directly with impactful clean energy assets in the region. You will inspect, troubleshoot, commission and repair systems to ensure solar and battery assets—ranging from 2 kWac rooftop arrays to 35 MWac utility-scale installations—operate at peak performance. You will mentor junior technicians, travel statewide, and contribute to a cleaner energy future for Arizona. Senior Maintenance Specialist - Renewable Energy A two-year associate's degree in an applicable technology area such as electric power, electronics, mechanics or hydraulics Five (5) years of solar or battery storage maintenance and construction experience In lieu of degree, seven (7) years of solar or battery storage maintenance, construction and/or other job-related experience Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve issues across solar PV systems and battery energy storage assets to maintain operational uptime Lead or support the commissioning of new solar and BESS installations to ensure proper functionality and compliance with specifications Execute field installation, repairs, retrofits, and modifications to optimize system performance and longevity Perform inspections and routine preventative maintenance based on manufacturer, vendor and internal O&M procedures Utilize SCADA and Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) to monitor system health and respond to performance anomalies Adhere to safety standards and operating procedures while working with high-voltage systems and complex energy infrastructure Provide mentorship and technical leadership to less experienced technicians Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, working in physically demanding environments, and traveling statewide as needed Preferred Skills, Knowledge, or Qualifications

Knowledge of general electricity and electrical theory Experience with communications equipment (DAS), testing equipment (e.g., Fluke meters, IV Curve, IR Camera, Megger Testing, Solmetric Eye), construction and technical repair standards Proficiency in 480 VAC, 1000 VDC, electronics, computers, mechanics and hydraulics with hands-on electrical troubleshooting Ability to work independently or as a lead member of the team Good written and verbal communication skills and PC skills in a Windows-based environment Understanding of electrical/electronic blueprints, schematics and redline drawings for new construction Working knowledge of NEC, APM and Maintenance/Construction standards Ability to use PI displays for assessing solar plant operating status Ability to push firmware and software updates to inverters Ability to obtain level 1 and 2 inverter training within the first twelve months of employment Ability to operate all functions of inverters and troubleshoot common problems Experience performing preventative maintenance on solar equipment and using Maximo for data access and work orders Experience using infrared equipment to check for loose connections and hot spots; analyze DC electrical system problems Major Accountabilities

1) Perform diagnostics to troubleshoot, identify and repair inverter performance issues of solar and battery storage systems. 2) Connect with communications equipment/computers to troubleshoot DAS/SCADA communication issues. 3) Troubleshoot/repair controls and motor drives on tracker equipment. 4) Identify module performance issues with testing equipment and replace modules as needed. 5) Perform voltage and current checks on AC/DC systems and conduct preventative maintenance on weather station equipment. 6) Provide technical direction to less experienced maintenance specialists. 7) Oversee third-party contractors to ensure compliance with APS construction standards and the Accident Prevention Manual (APM). 8) Collaborate with the solar-related Engineering team to resolve technical issues. This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with NERC standards.
