Overview
Corporate Tax Manager role at Grant Thornton (US). You will be a member of the corporate tax practice working on business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting (tax provision preparation or audit support). You will support engagement management for multiple clients and collaborate with team members and specialists, including the Washington National Tax Office (WNTO). Responsibilities
Run client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget. Supervise, train, and mentor senior associates, associates, and interns; assess staff performance for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed. Identify opportunities to sell services to existing and potential clients. Review tax returns prepared by staff and recommend improvements for accuracy and tax savings. Conduct primary review of ASC 740 income tax provision engagements. Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize Tax-related software to prepare and process returns. Respond to inquiries from the IRS, state, and other tax authorities. Maintain productive client relationships and gather information to perform tax services. Understand client operations and business objectives to inform engagements. Attend professional development and training; adhere to professional standards and client confidentiality. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Minimum four to seven years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience. CPA or JD/active law license required. Public accounting experience preferred; experience in corporate income tax and ASC 740 accounting. Strong analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with US GAAP knowledge. Knowledge of state and local income taxes, international taxation, and transfer pricing. Excellent client service, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience with OneSource Tax Provision preferred. Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and ability to travel as needed. Salary ranges: San Francisco Bay Area offices: $128,800 – $193,200; Los Angeles, Orange County/Newport Beach, San Diego offices: $121,000 – $181,400. What to Expect
