Our Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for support on projects associated with the design and development of communication, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The employee will research, develop, design, and test mechanical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense systems or commercial purposes. This engineer will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Lifecycle Sustainment and Modernization Solutions (LSMS) and will perform complex mechanical engineering tasks including reverse engineering, CAD, structural analysis, manufacturing development, and obsolescence resolution to ensure warfighter supportability. The engineer will support the Lead Engineer in execution of program activities including design development, design/program reviews, requirements management, automated test software development, test execution and witnessing, tool development, hardware selection, and specification development. Responsibilities

Analyze tooling/support equipment and recommend appropriate solutions for re-work or alternative solutions including modern manufacturing methods Access, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings Establish design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test Generate complex engineering models and drawings Analyze complex systems and precision electro-mechanical assemblies through simulation and/or analysis to then recommend appropriate substitutions or re-design solutions to ensure the integrity of the platform configuration, system safety, and performance specifications while minimally impacting qualification processes Identify, analyze, and solve obsolescence issues Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules Identify program problems and assist in the establishing of solutions, such as allocation of resources, improved processes, or changing contractual specifications Act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of programs Support process improvement and establishment Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware specifications Generate reports and presents to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations Research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines Basic Qualifications

Must have at least one of the following: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience PhD degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of engineering experience Experience with CAD modeling (NX, SolidWorks) Experience designing tooling and support equipment Experience with static FEA (i.e. ANSYS, FEMAP/NASTRAN) Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Preferred Qualifications

Experience with aerospace systems Experience with Air Force customers and the aerospace industry and military standards Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher) with investigation in the last five years Experience with test planning at the equipment and system level Experience with nuclear hardened systems Experience with DOORS and general requirements management best practices Experience with Dynamic and heat transfer FEA Experience in Additive Manufacturing or 3D-Print design & technologies Experience with modernization and sustainment of military aircraft Experience conducting analysis of mechanical components and structures within aircraft maintenance programs, determining effectiveness and creating written recommendations for increasing efficiency and effectiveness Experience with CAD tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, NX FEA: Ansys, Femap/Nastran/Patran Experience in a customer-focused, team-oriented environment Compensation and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $82,100.00 - $123,100.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline and may vary based on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and bonuses. Northrop Grumman provides comprehensive benefits including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO.
