exists to make work better for every engineer at Affirm. Our mission is to simplify and accelerate software development across the company. We own the entire space between a developers laptop and production, including ephemeral dev environments, CI/CD pipelines, test automation frameworks, dependency management, and release engineering. Our tools and platforms enable engineers to ship code quickly, safely, and with confidence. This team supports over 900 engineers working across a broad stack in a hypergrowth Fintech environmenta complex, high-leverage challenge with impact at scale. What You'll Do
Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale and tie it to critical, business-impacting projects. Collaborate across product management, design & analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks and trade-offs are understood and managed. Act as a force-multiplier for your team through definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes. Take ownership of your teams operations and availability by ensuring monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing and alerting support keep the lights on and on-call efforts. Foster a culture of quality and ownership through high-quality code reviews, design standards, and advocacy beyond your team via writing, tech talks, and knowledge sharing (e.g., pair programming). Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and by leading by example. What We Look For
8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend or infrastructure systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin. Proven growth and impact trajectory with proactive gathering and iteration of feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers. Extensive experience supporting highly available distributed systems using AWS, distributed databases, containers and Kubernetes; experience building scalable infrastructure components including pipelines (Jenkins, Buildkite, GitHub Actions), configuration management, and automation. Experience delivering major features or components through technical and execution planning; writing high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others. Ability to thrive in ambiguity, moving from language idioms to architecture of large systems to deeply understand how they work. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global and remote engineering team. Up-to-date knowledge of tools, technologies, and best practices in one or more language ecosystems. Experience creating and maintaining automated workflows for building, testing, and deploying code, including issue identification/resolution and performance optimization. This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelors degree in a related field. Compensation and Benefits

- 13 Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $225,000 - $275,000 USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $200,000 - $250,000 Location
