Systems Engineer - Mission Operations Lead
York Space Systems LLC is seeking a Systems Engineer – Mission Operations Lead to drive various mission planning and execution activities for the Mission Operations team. York Space Systems was founded to radically improve spacecraft affordability and reliability, transforming and enabling next-generation space mission operations worldwide. York’s complete Space Segment Solution includes spacecraft production, payload integration, system integration & test, launch services, ground segment services, and mission operations, enabling customers to leverage York’s existing technology solutions to get to orbit rapidly and responsively. Responsibilities
Act as the mission operations focal point for all development activities for a program’s complete lifecycle; interface and coordinate with customer, PM and other engineering leads Lead the development of mission concept of operations, operations plans, and other relevant program documentation in preparation for commissioning and on orbit operations Support customer communication by providing technical insights, updates, and coordination Plan and execute table-top exercises and mission rehearsals to ensure operational readiness; train and task junior team members as necessary Perform on-console spacecraft operations tasks supporting real-time activities and anomaly investigations for multiple missions Lead the creation and maintenance of mission-specific operational documentation, including spacecraft checklists, command scripts and customer training artifacts Execute telemetry data trending and monitoring by developing and using trending tools and methods Identify, create, or utilize available tools to model and analyze a given systems performance and capabilities in relation to mission objectives Manage the tasking of mission ops personnel during development tasks Ability to work off hours, weekends and holidays; shift work as required Lead a team during launch, early orbit and commissioning real time activities Drive anomaly investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements, while ensuring timely resolution and documentation Qualifications
BS degree in engineering, computer science, or relevant technical field, plus 4-8 years of relevant experience Working knowledge of satellite operations, spacecraft subsystems, orbit dynamics, spacecraft testing or ground systems Ability to quickly learn operational procedures, new software, and complex technical subjects Experience developing and testing operational documentation Willingness to work extended periods of rotating shifts, off hours and weekend/holidays Clear and concise verbal communication skills Active Security Clearance – SECRET highly desired with eligibility for TS/SCI in the future Desired – familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint or other project management tools Benefits
