Overview
HF Sinclair in Dallas, TX is seeking a Director, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting who will serve as the Technical Accounting Subject Matter Expert for the Accounting Department. This role is also responsible for the company's SEC external filings as well as providing guidance to internal financial reporting. This role will manage corporate accounting policies development and dissemination; manage the external audit process with the Company's independent auditors; and support the audit committee through materials development and dissemination. This position is also responsible for managing accounting related to projects including, but not limited to, business combinations, complex transactions and new accounting pronouncements. Responsibilities
Lead the planning, organization and preparation of external SEC reports. Assist in the preparation of press releases and board presentations. Act as Finance leadership for M&A integration activities. Manage, coordinate and perform internal financial reporting duties with accuracy and timely delivery. Assist with company-wide consolidation, including roll up of foreign subsidiaries and related operations in SAP; collaborate with the Sr. Manager, Consolidations on reconciliation and month-end review and controls. Conduct technical accounting research to support complex transactions, new accounting pronouncements, M&A, integration activities, SEC filings, etc., and prepare position papers and documentation. Provide interpretation of financial policies, governmental legislation, accounting theory and regulations. Develop and formulate company-wide Accounting Policies and Procedures ensuring GAAP compliance; manage the Corporate Financial Policies repository. Recommend and assist in policy design and implementation to meet company objectives. Serve as a liaison on company-wide initiatives including asset acquisitions, business combinations and other transactions; ensure events are evaluated and accounted for in accordance with GAAP. Support the general ledger with accounting needs, documentation and integration. Prepare ad-hoc studies, reports and analyses (forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, business forecasts). Assist external auditors during quarterly review and annual audit; maintain required reporting work papers and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Manage and mentor the team in financial reporting and technical GAAP. Qualifications
A minimum of 8–10 years of progressive, technical accounting, GAAP and regulatory financial reporting experience. Minimum of five years of management experience. SEC reporting experience required. Experience with SAP preferred. Education
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; Master’s Degree preferred. Required Skills
Advanced knowledge of Technical Accounting issues, GAAP, and regulatory financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting. Ability to lead and direct staff with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; intermediate to advanced MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Broad understanding of accounting practices with ability to drive efficiencies and best practices. Strong leadership, communication (written and verbal), and decision-making skills to work with all levels of the organization. Certifications
Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Direct supervision of a team up to two exempt professionals and contractors, and liaison with external auditors as needed. Work Conditions
