The Attorney Generals Office is recruiting for two permanent full-time Paralegal 2 positions in the Civil Rights Division. These positions are located in Seattle, Washington, and are represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). Paralegal 2 (Range 55) salary range: $61,644 - $82,872 (Effective 7/1/2025). The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidates job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The following stipends may apply based on position requirements: Note : Effective July 1, 2025, Paralegal 2s assigned to work within King County receive Group C Assignment Pay in addition to their base pay. The Group C pay percentage is a limited premium and applies at the Paralegal 2 classification. King County Paralegal 2s 5% Group C Assignment Pay
Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.

About the Civil Rights Division
The Wing Luke Civil Rights Division leads enforcement matters, including challenges to federal policies and labor practices, and works on matters ranging from aerospace to agriculture. The team protects the rights of Washingtonians to live and participate in communities without discrimination based on protected characteristics. We work with the Solicitor Generals Office, Consumer Protection Division, and other AGO divisions and state agencies to enforce Washington laws in state and federal courts. The Civil Rights Division is located in Seattle and consists of attorneys, investigators, and professional staff who value collaboration, diversity, creativity, and collegiality. Candidates are encouraged to review the Divisions cases and amicus briefs. Duties and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 2
Paralegal 2 staff provide critical support to Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) in litigation of state matters, trial preparation, and applying knowledge of court rules related to legal practice and filing procedures in civil and appellate matters. Duties may include: Independently composing discovery documents, summonses, subpoenas, notices, memoranda, and other legal pleadings. Managing the organization of complex litigation, including large sets of discovery and accessible documents for the litigation team. Drafting declarations, responding to discovery requests, and assisting with deposition preparation and summaries. Assisting with legal research, case cite checking, local rules compliance, and proofreading. Assisting in trial preparation, including exhibits management and witnesses, and serving as the primary point person for courtroom aids.

Examples of paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney include preparing legal pleadings and correspondence, ensuring timely service of documents, calendaring critical dates, managing case documents and discovery, and researching legal issues and citations.
