Position Summary The Safety Ambassador is responsible for the safety and security of the UCLA Housing facilities guests, staff members and physical assets. Incumbent acts as a liaison with the University of California, Los Angeles Police Department, Fire Department and other emergency departments. The Safety Ambassador may perform routine tasks such as daily customer service interactions with residents and guests, perimeter checks and complete daily shift reports. Incumbent also completes incident reports as necessary and operates under the direction of Safety and Emergency Planning. Must be available to graveyard shift, weekends and some holidays.
Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Responsibilities
Provide daily customer service interactions with residents and guests.
Conduct perimeter checks and monitor safety within UCLA Housing facilities.
Complete daily shift reports and incident reports as necessary.
Operate under the direction of Safety and Emergency Planning and liaise with campus emergency services as needed.
Be available to work graveyard shifts, weekends and some holidays.
Qualifications
1-2 years experience in security, loss prevention or related field (Required).
2-3 years experience in security, loss prevention or related field (Preferred).
1-2 years working knowledge of security and safety procedures (Preferred).
At least one year of experience in security, loss prevention or related field. (Required).
Working knowledge of security and safety procedures. (Required).
Demonstrated ability to address emergency situations. (Required).
Ability to set goals and priorities, and manage workload under deadlines. (Required).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, coworkers, and University personnel; ability to interact diplomatically with a diversified public. (Required).
Working knowledge of surveillance and access control systems. (Preferred).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products. (Required).
Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively as a team member; perform duties independently with accuracy and meet deadlines. (Required).
Ability to manage multiple duties and communicate clearly in writing and orally. (Required).
CPR and First Aid Training certificate. (Preferred).
Ability to drive a University vehicle to travel to various work locations for patrols and inspections. (Required).
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations: High School Diploma (Preferred).
Special Conditions for Employment
Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV Pull Notice System and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
