Our firm is hiring a Pre-Litigation Attorney to help prepare cases for litigation. This role involves zero actual litigation work. No hearings. No courtroom appearances. No taking depositions. No phone calls with opposing counsel. This is a full-time attorney position, but without the added demands of being litigation counsel. The base salary for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience and capabilities. Exceptional remote candidates will be considered, but only on a case-by-case basis. Responsibilities
Conduct thorough intake review of cases after acceptance Gather, organize, and analyze facts and evidence from clients and available records Identify all potential claims and ensure no statute of limitations issues are missed Draft high-quality complaints tailored to federal and state employment and civil rights claims Prepare initial disclosures, discovery requests, and responses that anticipate opposing counsel’s demands Assemble initial discovery productions (key personnel files, contracts, emails, policies, etc.) Build complete, litigation-ready case files to be handed off to trial attorneys Coordinate with litigation team to ensure seamless transition of cases into active litigation Qualifications
J.D. degree and active bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction Minimum 4 years of litigation experience, with substantial exposure to employment or civil rights matters Strong legal research and writing skills; ability to draft complaints, discovery requests, and disclosures at a high level Proven ability to identify and preserve claims, including careful analysis of statutes of limitation Experience managing case files, organizing evidence, and preparing document productions Excellent judgment and ability to spot legal and factual issues early in the process Comfortable working independently and in a collaborative, handoff-based team model Preference for candidates who enjoy analysis and preparation but do not want to handle hearings, opposing counsel calls, or courtroom appearances
