Overview
The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support the Vice President, Human Resources & Operations. This role supports a range of HR functions that promote collaboration, growth, and operational excellence. It is a hands-on role for an HR professional who is passionate about fostering an inclusive, high-performing work environment. Responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle & Recruitment
– Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and offboarding. Employee Support & Relations
– Serve as the first point of contact for HR policies, benefits, and employee relations, fostering a supportive and respectful workplace. HR Operations & Compliance
– Administer benefits, maintain accurate HRIS records (BambooHR/Paylocity), and ensure compliance with federal and DC employment laws, including leave administration. Performance & Development
– Support ACI’s performance management system (PerformYard), coordinate check-ins, and assist with training and professional development initiatives. Engagement & Culture
– Assist with engagement surveys, wellness programs, and HR initiatives that strengthen collaboration and belonging. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field. 2–4 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a nonprofit, association, or small/mid-sized organization. Strong knowledge of HR operations, policies, benefits, and employment law. Proficiency with HRIS systems (BambooHR, Paylocity) and performance management tools (PerformYard preferred). Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment. Benefits
