This is a high-impact, hands-on role with broad scope and ownership — ideal for someone who thrives in a startup-style environment and wants to work across the full spacecraft lifecycle. You’ll lead the design and delivery of critical electronics subsystems, supporting both prototyping and production across a custom smallsat bus (~250 lbs / 110 kg). This position is perfect for engineers who want to go deep on hardware while collaborating across mechanical, systems, and embedded teams. Full relocation to Santa Barbara, CA is required. What You’ll Do
Design and develop advanced spacecraft electronics — including avionics, power systems, and harnessing Own schematic capture, parts selection, PCB layout, and board bring-up Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronics into flight-ready systems Conduct hardware troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and related equipment Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers (as desired) Contribute to an agile, non-siloed team where you can influence the full stack of spacecraft design What You’ll Bring
Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 5–10+ years of experience designing complex electronics systems (e.g. space, UAVs, robotics, embedded) Proven ability to deliver PCB designs from schematic to production Hands-on experience with hardware validation and troubleshooting Ability to work independently, self-manage, and own full subsystems Bonus Skills
Embedded systems and firmware experience Familiarity with SPI, RS-422/485, and DC-DC converter design Exposure to small satellite or aerospace hardware projects Systems thinking and eagerness to contribute outside of a narrow specialty Compensation
