Automation Engineering Manager

to join our

Corporate Engineering

team. This role requires a solid understanding of industrial automation systems, along with hands-on experience in

HMI

and

PLC programming . The Automation Engineering Manager will play a key role in developing and deploying automation strategies across our operations and will be based at our

Marlborough, MA

location. Responsibilities

Architecture, development, integration, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment controls systems, manufacturing systems automation, industrial electrical maintenance and design, and human-machine interfaces, and industrial communications networks. Lead and support design, integration, troubleshooting and startup of bottling and packaging lines and industrial kitchens where applicable. Develop and mentor Automation Engineers. Develop and revise wiring schematics and one-line diagrams using AutoCAD. Set up and troubleshoot industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, AB RIO, AB DH+, AB Devicenet). Configure VFDs on Ethernet networks or hardwired to a PLC for Control and IO; ensure basic understanding of industrial Ethernet managed switches. Work with Rockwell Automation products (RSLogix 5/500/5000, Studio), FactoryTalk Studio, and other listed technologies; experience with Inductive Automation Ignition, Wonderware InTouch/InBatch, Microsoft SQL, AutoCAD, and related tools is beneficial. Develop and implement customized safety solutions for process and packaging equipment; ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes and standards (NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910). Collaborate with Plant Operations to evolve current systems architecture and maximize manufacturing efficiencies and output; build strong relationships with the Operations team. Support local Operations needs for electrical and automation system support; create written maintenance instructions for Operator Interface touch screens and Wonderware InTouch PCs. Participate in design and deployment of automation across facilities; travel up to 20% as required. Commit to safety as a management responsibility and promote a culture of safety within the team. Qualifications

Experience with Rockwell RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, Studio; Rockwell FactoryTalk Studio; Inductive Automation Ignition; Rockwell PowerFlex VFDs; Rockwell Point IO and Flex IO systems. Industrial electrical panels and wiring experience; familiarity with industrial sensors and instrumentation (flow meters, temperature probes, level sensors, photoeyes, solenoid valves). Experience with Servo systems and servo controllers; development and troubleshooting of advanced controls. Proficiency in AutoCAD for wiring schematics and one-line diagrams; ability to design or revise wiring drawings as needed. Programming experience in C++, Visual Basic, Java, Python, etc.; familiarity with Cisco networking hardware. Experience with benefits of automation in bottling, packaging lines and related manufacturing environments is desired. Ability to travel to Ken’s facilities for project work and team meetings up to 20% travel. Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to mentor automation engineers. Details
