Real Estate & Construction Advisory Senior Associate (Forensics)

at Grant Thornton (US). This role focuses on growing and contributing to global clients’ needs through all phases of project and engagement management across real estate and construction sectors, including data centers, energy, infrastructure, commercial real estate, and hospitality. You will plan, direct, and complete projects related to process improvements, vendor audits, risk and control assessments, investigations, litigation support, and project monitoring within the Forensics Advisory Services Practice. From day one, you’ll be empowered by the Risk team to help clients achieve their vision and help you grow confidently. Your day-to-day may include the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Reviewing construction contracts, financial statements, job cost reports, internal policies, and process maps to identify cost savings, process inefficiencies, and strategic initiatives

Performing complex financial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies across multiple sources of data and supporting documentation

Analyzing compliance with various labor requirements, including prevailing wage jobs reliant on federal funding or tax credits

Assisting in matters involving fraud, waste, and abuse, including allegations of bribery, collusion, conflicts of interest, organized crime, and other regulatory exposures

Conducting targeted research on regulatory requirements including IRS guidance, accounting standards codification, and AICPA practice aids

Communicating findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders

Coordinating with multiple stakeholders and third parties to understand the construction project control environment and proposing controls to address gaps

Running client engagements from planning through completion, managing projects to budget

Maintaining active communication with clients to manage expectations and build trusted business relationships

Working with engagement teams to conduct forensic accounting procedures on multiple engagements

Collaborating across Grant Thornton service lines and with international colleagues to deliver high-impact client solutions

Managing, developing, training, and mentoring staff on projects and during reviews

Attending professional development, networking events, and training seminars

Adhering to professional standards and client confidentiality

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, IT, MIS, or related field

Minimum 2 years of related experience in a similar consulting practice servicing real estate and/or construction clients at a national level

CPA, CFE, CMA, CFA, CMA, CIA, PMP, PMBOK or related certifications preferred

Experience in management consulting, internal audit, regulatory compliance, and/or forensic engagements is preferred

Proven advisory experience in real estate and/or construction industries

Strong computer skills with proficient Excel capabilities

Knowledge of federal and state construction labor regulations, including the Davis-Bacon Act

Excellent analytical, research, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail

Ability to work on multiple engagements and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Excellent client service and communication skills with ability to build relationships

Willingness to work additional hours and travel to client sites (domestic and international); 10%–25% travel expected

Ability to complete a skills assessment as part of the recruiting process
