Pump is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented

Senior Accountant / Controller

to lead our day-to-day financial operations. As our first in-house accounting hire, you'll play a critical role in building the financial infrastructure that supports our next stage of growth.

From owning reporting and controls to shaping strategic planning, you'll work closely with leadership and collaborate across teams to ensure Pump is fiscally sound and future-ready. This is a hands-on, high-impact role—ideal for someone excited to dive into the details while building scalable systems from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

Financial Operations

Own all accounting functions for the company and related entities

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

Prepare accurate, timely financial statements and internal reports

Lead budgeting and support forecasting alongside company leadership

Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial KPIs

Oversee accounts receivable/payable and cash flow management

Coordinate with external accountants for audits and tax compliance

Ensure full compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and financial regulations

Systems, Controls, and Reporting

Implement and maintain strong internal controls and processes

Develop and enforce accounting policies aligned with best practices

Identify and solve inefficiencies in financial workflows

Build financial models and forecasts to support strategic decisions

Maintain oversight of departmental budgets and overall financial health

Cross-Functional Leadership

Partner with other teams to align financial operations with business goals

Educate internal teams on budgeting, spending, and financial accountability

Recommend process improvements and cost optimization strategies

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

2–5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or FP&A

Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting principles, and tax compliance

Proven experience managing budgets and financial reporting

Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms

Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

Experience at a startup or company with a

usage-based billing model

Prior work helping build or scale financial systems and processes

Exposure to SaaS, fintech, or high-growth tech environments
