Overview

The Division of Surgical Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute, within the Department of Surgery, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health System, is recruiting at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank for an academically oriented Surgical Oncologist. We are seeking a candidate with strong interest in melanoma and sarcoma to work in our busy multi-disciplinary melanoma and soft tissue oncology program. The position reports to the Division Chief of Surgical Oncology and is located in New Brunswick, NJ. Faculty members are expected to support the educational goals of the school, engaging in teaching activities for medical students and residents, as well as delivering targeted lectures in their area of expertise. Academic rank is commensurate with experience. Qualified candidates with exceptional academic credentials and clinical experience may be considered for the rank of professor with additional leadership responsibilities as Head of the Melanoma/Sarcoma Section and Co-Leader of the Cutaneous and Soft Tissue Oncology Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute. The Cutaneous Oncology Section treats malignancies of the skin and soft tissues; we are the busiest melanoma surgical center in New Jersey and offer excision, sentinel lymph node biopsies, and resection of metastases, often in conjunction with state-of-the-art clinical trials. Rutgers Cancer Institute is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and, in partnership with RWJBarnabas Health, provides high-intensity cancer care and access to advanced diagnostic and treatment options, including immunotherapy, proton therapy, CAR-T therapy, and cardio-oncology. Support the educational goals of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; engage in teaching activities for medical students and residents and deliver targeted lectures in the area of expertise. Provide patient care as a Surgical Oncologist with a focus on melanoma and sarcoma within a busy multidisciplinary program. Participate in ongoing clinical and translational research; contribute to clinical trials and innovation in surgical oncology; collaborate with medical and radiation oncology, pathology, and other teams. Academic duties aligned with rank, including potential leadership roles as described for senior candidates. Qualifications
