Overview

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) supports the mission of People's Community Clinic (PCC) by coordinating the flow of patients through the front office in a manner that reflects superior customer service and ensures timely patient care. PSRs work collaboratively with all internal and external customers in compliance with each of the PCC core values.

Location:

1101 Camino La Costa, Austin, TX 78752 (North Clinic)

Compensation:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications

Hours (Full Time):

Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Responsibilities Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this individual’s primary job responsibilities include:

Greet patients promptly upon their arrival at the clinic, utilizing excellent customer service

Complete the entire check-in process as patients arrive in a timely, efficient manner, and monitor daily appointment schedules

Thoroughly review and update patient demographics, consents, insurance, and income

Ensure the patient is screened by financial counselors if applicable

Anticipate needs associated with all same-day visits (i.e. registration, including insurance verification, is completed)

Maintain a well-organized work area

Complete the entire checkout process

Communicate effectively with back-office support staff and other departments

Function well as a team with the flexibility to adapt to daily changes in routine or assignments

Monitor wait times in the waiting area and communicate delays to the patient and clinical staff

Manage late arriving patients per policy and no-show appointments as appropriate

Collect co-pay and accurately reconcile daily cash

Comply with all front office policies and procedures

Process medical records release requests

Comply with attendance and punctuality requirements

Equipment is turned on and is prepared for the workday at the start of the shift

Occasional overtime and/or weekend hours may be required

Qualifications Education:

High school diploma/GED required

Some college preferred

Experience:

Two years of experience working in a physician’s office or healthcare facility

Experience with medical billing and/or collections preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred)

Exceptional customer service skills

Basic computer literacy

Working knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems

Ability to multitask in a high-change environment

Ability to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly with patients in person and over the telephone

Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens

Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted throughout the regular workday
