Senior Full Stack Engineer & Founding Team Member
Location:
NYC (in-office 2-3 days/week)
Compensation:
$120k – $150k salary + 0.5% – 1.5% equity (depending on seniority)
About us Beehive is an early-stage startup building AI-powered enterprise climate risk management (ECRM) software to help companies measure and manage their climate risks. We’re small, ambitious, and moving fast. Joining now means you’ll help shape not only the product but also the culture and trajectory of the company.
Why this role This is not a cushy big-tech role. We’re being upfront: startup life can be messy. Priorities shift quickly, deadlines can be intense, and there won’t always be a playbook. But if you thrive in environments where you have real ownership, direct impact, and the chance to build something that matters from the ground up, this role could be exactly what you’re looking for.
As our first full-time engineering hire As our first full-time engineering hire (beyond the founding team), you’ll work closely with our CTO on everything from architecture to implementation. One week you might be designing a backend service to process climate model data, the next building a dashboard feature in the frontend, and the next helping debug a deployment issue.
Compensation
Salary:
$120k – $150k to start
Equity:

Benefits:
Not many: this is an early stage startup that has not yet established full benefit programs. We do plan on offering 401k and healthcare shortly. If you like to own products all the way through, put things in customer hands immediately, work in two cutting edge technologies (AI + climate modeling), and work on climate-change related issues, this is going to be a great fit.
What you'll do
Design, build, and maintain full-stack features—from backend APIs and data pipelines to frontend dashboards and AI-enabled features
Collaborate with the CTO and product team to scope, prioritize, and deliver new features
Make critical architectural decisions with a focus on scalability and reliability
Write clean, testable, maintainable code across the stack
Own deployment, monitoring, and debugging in production
Contribute to engineering best practices and help set the tone for the team as we grow
What We\'re Looking For
A collaborative, problem-solving mindset—we’re looking for builders, not order-takers
4+ years of experience in software engineering
Must have worked at a startup with
Must have experience building AI products in their job or in a side project

What Success Looks Like
In your first 3 weeks: You’ve shipped a feature start to finish, from design to deployed
In your first 3 months: You’ve shipped major product features to production and helped improve our dev processes.
In 6 months: You’re leading ownership of big parts of the stack.
In 12 months: You’ve played a critical role in scaling both our product and our engineering team.
Our Tech Stack
Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFront), GitHub Actions, NextAuth
Who You Are What makes you a great candidate
Excited by the idea of building in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment. We can\'t micro manage. Once you\'re up and running, you\'re going to own a huge amount of the product.
Comfortable with ambiguity and proactive about creating clarity. We\'re not just feeding you bug tickets. You’re expected to come up with ideas, understand customer pains, and be creative in your own right (as well as crush bugs, obviously)
Energized by solving real-world problems with code (you\'re going to ship in your first week.)
Motivated by both the technical challenge and the climate mission. Our goal is to save our customers from billions of dollars in losses from climate disasters. If that feels important to you, this will be a great fit.
