Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a skilled Trial Attorney with substantial civil defense litigation experience, including first-chair trial work. The ideal candidate will manage a caseload focused on civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on auto cases. This hybrid role requires time both in-office and virtually, offering flexibility while ensuring close collaboration with the legal team. Houston, TX Duties:
Handle first and third-party civil defense cases from inception through conclusion. Represent clients in jury trials, including presenting and cross-examining lay and expert witnesses. Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and briefs. Manage discovery processes, including depositions and witness preparation. Collaborate with support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to case handling. Utilize advanced technology for case management and courtroom presentations. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal legal procedures and guidelines. Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Active license to practice law in the state of Texas. Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience, with emphasis on auto cases. First-chair jury trial experience. Proficiency in local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and relevant substantive law. Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Familiarity with working in a paperless, electronic environment. Bilingual skills (preferred but not required). Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications:
Active member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Skills:
Strong litigation and trial advocacy skills. Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and case management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for courtroom presentations and client interactions. Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
