Overview
Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC & Plumbing (MEP) based in Houston, TX. This HVAC Engineer position requires excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and problem-solving. Work with a highly experienced EPC team from early Conceptual design through permitting and construction documents and support. Expect to develop reliable and creative solutions for our clients. HVAC and Plumbing for Industrial/Commercial Building to support our Advanced Facility division is a must.
Duties / Responsibilities
To design the HVAC systems, including calculating heating and cooling needs, selecting appropriate equipment, and detailing system specifications.
Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines, architects to ensure that interfaces with the other systems are properly implemented in the design of HVAC systems.
Prepare sketches to communicate concepts with other engineers and provide comment on technical documents of other engineers.
Communicate effectively with Project Management and team members to provide updates and gather feedback.
Communicate effectively with the Client, PMT any issues and scope changes that may impact the cost or schedule or engineering manhours over the course of the project.
Communicate effectively with vendors/subcontractors. Ensure bid documents compliance with project specifications.
Understand and monitor project milestone dates related to equipment/material purchase, document issue dates, fabrication, installation, inspection / testing.
Preparing, reviewing, and approving technical documents, drawings, and specifications.
Communicate technical information effectively with Construction personnel, oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Communicate technical information and concepts effectively with Clients’ technical staff.
Troubleshooting system-related issues during and post installation.
Familiarize and follow project specific and Mechanical department procedures.
Comply with all CTCI Company and HSE procedures and policies and follow Corporate Principles.
Assist in training and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the design of HVAC & plumbing systems, their associated industry standards, selection criteria and design calculations
Proficient with HVAC & plumbing design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Knowledge of materials selection as well as equipment fabrication methods.
Knowledge of local building codes and regulations relevant to HVAC system
Thorough understanding of the required Mechanical Engineering project deliverables as well as the interfaces required with other engineering disciplines on a capital project.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with mechanical team members, other engineering disciplines, Project Management Team and Clients.
Thorough knowledge of MS Office products.
Ability to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site and interact with Field personnel on resolution.
Develop initial Scope, schedules and effort hours for the Mechanical scope of work.
Tracking and reporting to the project Manager for schedule updates and earned value progress.
Requires Client interface, model reviews, Vendor drawing reviews, and calculations to support engineering deliverables.

Proof of legal authorization to work in the U.S. will be required upon hire.
Education and Experience
BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in HVAC & plumbing systems for commercial/industrial buildings.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
