The Curatorial Research Assistant supports the research and exhibition initiatives of the Frost Art Museums curatorial team. This position provides students with hands-on experience in a professional museum environment and fosters a deeper understanding of cultural heritage work. Key Responsibilities Assist with research for upcoming exhibitions, collection objects, and the museum's institutional history Support the development and implementation of exhibitions, including drafting object labels, wall texts, and related interpretive materials Maintain correspondence with artists, lenders, and donors, and manage associated records for the curatorial department Assist with records management, including organizing and archiving both physical and digital documents Conduct exhibition tours and provide public engagement support as needed Provide administrative and logistical support for a range of exhibitions, including those organized in collaboration with the MFA program, Master of Arts in Art Education, Collection Highlights Contribute to programming efforts related to these exhibitions Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned

Federal Work Study Desired Qualifications Qualifications: Must be a currently enrolled FIU student in good academic standing Strong research, writing, and communication skills Familiarity with conducting research using library databases, archives, and both primary and secondary sources Interest in art history, museum studies, cultural studies, or related fields preferred Responsible, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team Strong organizational and time-management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required Preferred: familiarity with design and visualization software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, SketchUp, or similar platforms Ability to follow direction and work with minimal supervision when needed Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written High level of personal responsibility and problem-solving abilities

Who May Apply

Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package. Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.
