Were seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement for our fast-paced, custom manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate has a strong background in purchasing for a manufacturing or fabrication facility ideally one that operates in a job shop or project-based environment.

Job Summary

This role oversees purchasing of all materials and equipment used in the production and installation of architectural signage. You'll work closely with production, sales, and vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality and maximizing operational efficiency.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Collect at least 3 quotes on all materials for order approval, both large and small. Once the best option is approved, follow appropriate steps to order, pay, track, and receive until order is paid/ready for billing.
  • Source and purchase all materials required for the production and installation of signage products.
  • Solicit competitive quotes from multiple vendors and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials, supply chain trends, and vendor capabilities.
  • Communicate proactively with internal departments (production, sales, project management) to align material needs with project timelines.
  • Oversee the creation and processing of purchase orders, item receipts, RMAs, credits, reimbursements, and service requests.
  • Track incoming deliveries, inspect materials for quality, and handle any returns or discrepancies.
  • Manage and assign daily tasks to warehouse and logistics team (driver, forklift operator, receiver, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the design team to test alternative materials and communicate updates on discontinued or delayed products.
  • Use historical purchasing data to evaluate pricing trends and support cost optimization.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance services and equipment purchases to ensure a safe, efficient, and clean work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records in the ERP system and participate in continuous improvement efforts related to inventory management, procurement workflows, and supplier performance.
Education And Experience

Required: Bachelors degree in Sales, Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field and 2+ years of procurement experience OR High school diploma/GED equivalent from an accredited institution and 6+ years of purchasing/supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred: Experience in architectural signage, construction, or custom fabrication industries and familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite) RFQ process and material management for made-to-order production

  • Capacity to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and remain extremely organized and detailed oriented, ensuring accuracy in purchase pricing, quantities, lead times, and receipts for accurate billing and payment.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications and proficiency in PDF creation and manipulation software (PDF Xchange).
  • Understanding of production materials, lead times, and manufacturing processes.
  • Clear and proactive communicator, both internally and externally.
