Job Summary The Director of Logistics & Fulfillment will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the company’s end-to-end logistics, fulfillment, and asset management operations. This senior leader will manage a multi-city team including freight coordinators, asset management personnel, and labor operations teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of products and services. Additionally, this role will lead the company’s Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) strategy and diligence process to align infrastructure, technology, and equipment investments with long-term growth objectives. This is a highly strategic and hands-on leadership role requiring operational excellence, strong vendor and labor management skills, and the ability to execute complex logistics in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment. Responsibilities
Direct daily and strategic operations of freight coordination, order fulfillment, and equipment deployment across multiple locations and markets. Ensure on-time, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of assets and services to customers nationwide. Establish KPIs, operational benchmarks, and continuous improvement programs for logistics and fulfillment functions. Asset Management
Oversee company-wide asset tracking, inventory control, and life-cycle management to optimize utilization and reduce losses. Partner with IT and operations to implement technology-enabled tracking solutions for real-time asset visibility. Lead a team responsible for internal labor assignments, ensuring effective scheduling, allocation, and utilization of nationally based in-house staff. Manage external labor brokerage partnerships, maintaining quality, cost efficiency, and compliance standards. Develop and execute labor optimization strategies to balance productivity, cost control, and service-level performance. Negotiate freight, labor, and fulfillment vendor contracts to improve cost efficiency while meeting service-level agreements (SLAs). Lead the development of the company’s annual CAPEX plan in alignment with strategic growth initiatives. Conduct return-on-investment (ROI) analysis, risk assessments, and vendor evaluations for all major capital purchases. Partner with Finance and Operations leadership to ensure investments deliver long-term value and operational capabilities. Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to ensure fulfillment and logistics processes meet business goals, customer requirements, and budget constraints. Collaborate with leadership on contingency planning, peak season capacity management, and business continuity scenarios. RequirementsEducation & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, fulfillment, or supply chain leadership, preferably within a multi-location or high-asset environment. Proven track record in managing CAPEX programs, labor operations, and conducting ROI diligence for capital investments. Experience leading teams in freight coordination, asset management, and labor management (internal and external). Preferred: Prior leadership experience in an equipment rental company, or a business with similar asset-intensive logistics operations. Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial acumen. Expertise in logistics optimization, labor utilization, and process improvement methodologies. Exceptional leadership and team development skills across geographically dispersed teams. Strong negotiation, vendor, and labor contract management capabilities. Proficient in logistics software, warehouse management systems (WMS), and asset tracking technology. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels. Performance Metrics
