This includes federal, state, and local tax obligations, as well as regulatory reporting and risk management. The role ensures the bank maintains a strong tax governance framework while optimizing its tax position. Performs other projects and duties as assigned. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee preparation and review of all corporate tax filings, including income, franchise, sales/use, property, and other taxes. Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. Manage tax provision and reporting under ASC 740, including quarterly and annual tax disclosures. Develop and maintain internal controls over tax processes and documentation. Lead tax audits and manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors. Provide strategic tax guidance on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate transactions. Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impact on the company. Drive process improvements and automation in tax reporting and compliance. Advise on tax implications of new banking products, services, and strategic initiatives. Execute and oversee Compensation Accounting activities. Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Deep understanding of U.S. federal and state tax laws, with specific experience in banking-related tax issues preferred. Experience with tax provision (ASC 740) and reporting in a public or large private company. Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects. Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems (e.g., OneSource, SAP, Oracle). Must have strong technical GAAP and tax accounting research skills. Strong working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and key internal controls within Tax. Advanced Excel skills. Competent in Word and PowerPoint. Must possess extremely strong written and oral communication skills. Industry and Work Experience
10+ years of progressive tax experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the banking or financial services industry required. Academic
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Active CPA license strongly preferred.
