Position Summary

Review a variety of construction plans, agreements, proposals and specifications for compliance with established codes, regulations and ordinances; inspect project sites for future construction work; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in construction technology;

and

Five (5) years of experience in any combination of the following areas:

construction plan checking building construction construction contract management right-of-way regulations for permitting requirements ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire. Preferred Knowledge

Modern methods and procedures of construction Principles and practices of plans examination work Principles and procedures of on-site inspection work Basic computer programs relevant to assigned area Pertinent uniform codes, ordinances and regulations governing assigned area Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers Principles and procedures of record keeping and filing Principles and procedures of agreement approval process Preferred Skills & Abilities

Analyze, interpret and accurately check construction plans, proposals and specifications within assigned area Interpret, apply and enforce applicable codes, ordinances and regulations Maintain complete and accurate records of agreements plans and specification checks Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public Perform computer related functions relevant to assigned area Conduct on-site inspections Understand and follow oral and written instructions Communicate clearly and concisely Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
