Senior Accountant Location: Hillside, IL (On-Site) Schedule: Monday – Friday, typically 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 per year
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our finance team at our Hillside, IL office. This full-time, on-site role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing month-end close, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. In addition to core accounting duties, the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in project accounting—supporting project managers, tracking financial performance, and ensuring accurate billing and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
Manage and execute month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Prepare and analyze accurate, timely financial statements and internal reports Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls Support budgeting and forecasting with financial insights and variance analysis Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency Project Accounting & Revenue Management
Prepare, maintain, and analyze project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports Monitor project revenue, expenses, margins, and profitability Review contracts and change orders to ensure accurate billing and compliance Perform monthly project reconciliations and variance analysis Manage client invoicing based on project milestones and contract terms Ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies and applicable accounting standards Track collections and follow up on outstanding receivables Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
Partner with project managers to provide financial insight and cost analysis Deliver timely financial reports and dashboards to support operations and leadership Assist with project closeout activities, ensuring clean and complete financial records Mentor and support junior accounting staff on technical and procedural matters Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA certification preferred 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; project accounting a strong plus Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Emburse, HighRadius) Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams Prior experience in staffing, light industrial, or professional services industries is a plus If you're a proactive, detail-oriented accountant looking to expand your career in a dynamic environment—with the opportunity to influence both operational and project-level finance—we'd love to hear from you.
