About the Role: The Vet Technician at Meredith Place Veterinary Emergency (MVER) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality emergency/urgent veterinary care to a diverse range of animal patients. This position involves working closely with veterinarians and other medical staff to provide timely and compassionate support during urgent medical situations. The Vet Technician is responsible for performing clinical tasks such as monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting in diagnostic procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, the role requires effective communication with pet owners to provide updates and education regarding their pets' conditions and treatments. Ultimately, the Vet Technician contributes to the smooth operation of the emergency veterinary facility by maintaining a calm, organized, and professional environment under pressure. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program. Current Veterinary Technician certification or license as required by state regulations. Experience working in a veterinary clinical setting, preferably in emergency or critical care. Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common emergency medical procedures. Ability to handle animals safely and humanely under stressful conditions. Responsibilities: Assist veterinarians during emergency medical procedures and surgeries. Monitor and record patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiration, and temperature. Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and cytology to aid in diagnosis. Maintain and sterilize medical equipment and ensure cleanliness of treatment areas. Provide compassionate care and support to animals in distress and their owners. Prepare and maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Respond promptly to emergency calls and triage patients based on severity of condition. Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, medication administration, and preventive health measures. Skills: The required skills enable the Vet Technician to perform clinical tasks accurately and efficiently, ensuring that emergency patients receive prompt and appropriate care. Strong technical skills are essential for operating diagnostic equipment, administering treatments, and assisting in complex procedures.
