Job Description
• Ensure the protection of clinical outsourcing business interests. • Minimize business risk and maximize research dollars per contract. • Provide expert guidance on contracts and outsourcing to stakeholders. • Act as a central contact for business issues and facilitate conflict resolution. • Lead cost estimate processes for scenario planning. • Lead outsourcing cost analysis efforts at study, program, and asset levels. • Offer outsourcing consultation and guidance. • Negotiate business terms, fees, and scope of services with partners and service providers. • Provide leadership within outsourcing areas such as PSC Development and FCPA processes. • Drive the current outsourcing model forward with partners and providers. Responsibilities
• Meet client needs by assessing and applying innovative outsourcing solutions aligned with Pfizer’s partner model. • Use project planning and costing tools to evaluate options, negotiate costs, and recommend solutions. • Communicate with stakeholders to set realistic expectations regarding contracting processes. • Identify and evaluate outsourcing options to support decision-making at various levels. • Manage outsourcing processes by understanding study requirements, requesting proposals, analyzing and negotiating proposals, and selecting vendors. • Prepare and negotiate contracts, including Work Orders, Vendor Agreements, and other legal documents. • Negotiate contract language and manage significant changes within legal and budget frameworks. • Design payment schedules to ensure vendor performance and compliance with regulations. • Oversee cost estimation and execution of study agreements. • Communicate contractual impacts and budgets to relevant stakeholders. • Analyze service provider budgets to ensure cost appropriateness. • Provide expertise in outsourcing and participate in strategic projects. • Identify process gaps and work on improving contracting tools and procedures. • Obtain external market knowledge and participate in global initiatives. Qualifications
• BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience. • Advanced degree (MBA, JD, etc.) and management experience preferred for senior roles. • Experience in clinical trials, CRO operations, or related negotiations. • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with MS Office; experience with industry tools preferred. • Experience in finance and clinical budgeting. • Understanding of activity-based costs and strategic cost relationships. • Knowledge of clinical outsourcing and contracting strategies. • Strong influencing and expectation management skills.
