Director, Oncology Strategic Partnerships

May 21, 2025 The UCSD Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCC) is seeking a Director of Strategic Partnerships and Research Administration (DSPRA). This senior administrative role oversees all research operations, strategic affiliations with industry partners, and collaborates with the MCC Director and leadership team to advance the center's academic and clinical excellence. The DSPRA is responsible for strategic planning, research administration, personnel management, budgeting, space and resource management, training, community outreach, and engagement. Key responsibilities include providing financial and administrative leadership for large or multiple research departments or centers, establishing strategic plans, making operational decisions, and ensuring the achievement of clinical, educational, and research objectives. Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus eight years of relevant experience; or twelve years of combined relevant experience, education, and training. Excellent leadership skills to oversee large or multiple academic departments, research centers, and institutes. Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, reporting, accounting principles, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls. Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, facilitate relationships, collaborate, persuade, and influence. Ability to inspire and build strong, collaborative relationships across a complex, multi-site environment. Highly advanced analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Advanced skills in strategy development, systems planning, change management, and negotiations. Advanced HR administration skills. Advanced project management skills, including managing capital projects. Ability to identify, develop, and prioritize objectives. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in business, health administration, or a clinical degree. Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in research administration. Leadership experience within a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center is highly preferred. AACI events bring together cancer center leadership with national cancer research and advocacy groups, industry, and government health agencies. AACI also publishes cancer center event announcements as a benefit to members.
