Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) serves several key duties as set from the Faculty Code of University Government:

1) OUR serves as the keeper of the academic records of all students registered in the University and issues official transcripts and reports of such records; 2) conducts the registration of all students in the University; 3) prepares and publishes the class and examination schedules; and 4) administers the faculty regulations relating to the removal of academic deficiencies incurred in this University and to compliance with probation and readmission requirements.

To fulfill these duties the office has following core service areas for and on behalf of the university community, including students, alumni, administration, faculty, staff, and other constituents.

- Classroom Scheduling - Curriculum/Student Information System Academic Structure - Degree Audit/Graduation - Records and Enrollment - Student Data/Reporting - Training, Provisioning and Documentation - FERPA/Regulatory Compliance Oversight

Position Summary

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) at UNC-Chapel Hill seeks a detail-oriented and forward-thinking Degree Audit and Graduation Specialist. This role plays a vital part in ensuring academic integrity and supporting student success by auditing student records for graduation eligibility, managing degree audit programming, and overseeing diploma distribution.

The specialist serves as a campus-wide liaison, collaborating with academic departments, advising units, and University leadership to confirm that students are progressing toward degree completion in accordance with University policies. The position maintains and enhances the Tar Heel Tracker (THT) and PeopleSoft Grad Tracker systems, supports policy exception processing, coordinates commencement data, and upholds FERPA compliance. Responsibilities also include data analysis, query development, user training, and strategic contributions to the technical and structural optimization of graduation tools and audit systems.

This individual is instrumental in delivering an accurate, efficient, and transparent graduation process that supports students, faculty, and staff across the University.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Experience using MS Office, especially Excel, required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Experience with undergraduate education, PeopleSoft and/or degree clearance is preferred.
