General Definition of Work

The Executive Director of Data Quality, under minimal supervision, performs senior-level work with extensive decision-making discretion overseeing complex cross-functional initiatives related to technology, data, and research. This position provides strategic leadership and hands-on expertise, including leading the development and implementation of future solutions for enterprise data management and business intelligence. Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Assistant Technology Officer of Data Warehouses.

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Essential Functions

Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district Collaborate in the development of annual plans to meet the objectives set forth by the Superintendent and the Board of Education Support existing data warehousing and business intelligence systems Perform highly complex data analysis, data architecture, and data reporting tasks Lead the development and implementation of future migrations to new database and business intelligence solutions Determine database and reporting requirements by analyzing business operations, applications, and programming; reviewing business objectives; and evaluating current systems and future alternatives Collaborate to develop and establish standards for data quality, data modeling, database object creation and maintenance, and data reporting Lead efforts in data management, data quality techniques, data governance, master data management, and design methods Provide support in accessing and querying data via the data warehouse and analyzing and reporting on data to support customer requests or project requirements Monitor and participate in the development and administration of the department budget Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations Facilitate the development of the department's improvement plan Perform related work as assigned or required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system technology requirements Knowledge of quantitative research methodology, statistics, data analysis, and business intelligence reporting Knowledge of business intelligence and data warehousing theory and concepts Strong skills and experience in software used in querying, analyzing, and reporting on enterprise data (SQL proficiency required) Strong skills and experience in developing business intelligence reporting and applications (Power BI proficiency required) Strong skills and experience in data governance and communicating about data to non-technical audiences Strong skills in facilitating cross-functional teams Strong skills in eliciting, documenting, implementing, and testing solutions to meet business requirements Strong skills in project management and in developing and managing processes Ability to identify opportunities for development and implementation of new products Ability to support junior team members with knowledge transfer on technical skills and business processes Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs Ability to develop, monitor, and implement a fiscally sound budget Ability to direct and evaluate the work of others Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations Ability to communicate effectively Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business Ability to develop related charts, graphs, reports, and records pertaining to school planning and strategy Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work, planning, risk assessments, and associated risk mitigation actions Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area required Master's degree in Computer Science or related area preferred Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, and project management preferred Equivalent combination of experience and education # of Jobs 1.00
