Application Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Applications Engineer with a mechanical engineering background to support our engineering team. This role involves both customer interaction and CAD design work, primarily focusing on generating concepts, gathering technical information, and assisting in the preparation of accurate project quotes. The ideal candidate will have experience with SolidWorks and be comfortable collaborating with customers to gather necessary requirements, as well as working independently on design concepts and estimates. Responsibilities: Engage with customers to gather essential technical information for project requirements. Request facility layouts, part drawings, or any relevant information to facilitate the design process. Present concepts and designs to customers, ensuring alignment with project goals. Address customer inquiries and provide necessary updates throughout the process. Utilize SolidWorks to design conceptual solutions based on customer requirements. Develop preliminary design concepts, ensuring they meet functional specifications while keeping an eye on cost-effective solutions. Work closely with internal teams to review and refine designs. Generate third-party quotes or estimates to assist in the proposal process. Provide enough detail for accurate cost estimation, while leaving final fixture design, detailing, and other advanced engineering work to the dedicated engineering team. Essential Skills: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Proficiency in SolidWorks (2D/3D modeling, assemblies, and part design). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with customers. Experience in CAD design, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Familiarity with preparing and evaluating project quotes and estimates. Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience with manufacturing processes or systems integration. Familiarity with other CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.). Previous experience in a customer-facing engineering role is a plus.
